'Tis the time for new year resolutions. Most people make them, and fewer finish them. Here are some quick tips to make sure your goals stand on solid footing.
-
Try the no zero days method - Explained here.
-
Create specific and measurable goals - the more specific the better. The bonus is that you can then break the goals down easier into monthly or weekly goals that add up to the year.
-
Break down goals into small chunks. For instance, instead of saying you want to get to 1,000 active users per month this year, you can start by saying - week 1 I want to build up to 10 active users, week 2 I want to build up to 30, and so on. Bonus if you can measure these sub-goals and your progress.
-
If you're facing resistance, break the small chunk for that day into a tiny form. Sometimes just getting started is all you need to do, but you have to give yourself permission to be okay with the minimal version of the task. For instance, if you need to run 3 miles today - the minimal version would be to just step outside and run around the block once.

to help you make better decisions, prioritize better, and delegate more.
-
Ask your peers and ask yourself what are the most important aspects of your business this year, and how do you need to grow or change in order to accomplish these things? Create some goals around these answers.
-
Visualize yourself at the end of the year, having completed all of your goals. Sit with this feeling for a few minutes and acknowledge the alignment, misalignment, and hard work that has gone into it. This will create a filter for good vs. bad goals, and also prime you to stick to your goals.
-
If all else fails, make it a habit to invest in yourself. Read books, take courses, watch educational content, or even hire a coach. This will pay off in dividends over the long term. Warren Buffet credits most of his successful career to this.
