Omar Zenhom's Top Lessons After Selling His SaaS Company

Omar Zenhom, founder of the successful webinar platform WebinarNinja in 2014, gained prominence with its rapid growth by 2018. He also hosts "The $100 MBA Show," a hit podcast named one of Apple's Best of 2014, with over 200 million downloads globally. His significant contributions to online business education are rooted in his vast experience in business and teaching.

And now, he sold his SaaS business WebinarNinja, and published a really good podcast episode about the timeless lessons he learned along the way.

Omar's Lessons

Market momentum is key - Work on a big and painful problem and a main pain point for a type of customer.

Constraints are a boon - When funds or resources are tight it forces one to focus and be innovative as well as resourceful to make things work.

Hire slowly but fire quickly - Take your time to find the best person for the job as taking the wrong hire may cost you a lot.

You must keep evolving for your customers - If you stay the same your product will tank over time as the user's interests change and the market changes.

People Network is super important - You need people to help you when you have gaps, get stuck, or make useful connections for you.

Cashflow is paramount - Being profitable is more important than anything else, so focus on that when making decisions. Have a P&L sheet and review it daily or weekly.

To create something great, sacrifices must be made - Focus on what is important to you such as your business, your family, or your health. Everything else is a bonus depending on how much time you have left.

You are not your business - A business is a means to an end, this allows you to create something and sell it, and while the product is no longer yours, the experience and growth you acquired will always stay with you.

Every day in business is a gift - If you are profitable take the time to stop and be grateful that you are part of the selective club of 5% of people in the world who operate a business, and it is a blessing to have this. So enjoy the moment and enjoy the journey.
